Santorum Fails Again!

Here's something to be thankful for!

You may remember that once Little Ricky Santorum ended his embarrassing presidential campaign he decided to take on Hollywood.  He became a movie studio head and promised his reactionary Christian movies would rival the great studios and companies like Pixar.

Welp, apparently Rick Santorum knows as much about movie making as he does about running the worlds greatest democracy.  Which is absolutely nothing.

His first movie landed in theaters with a thud , the critics hated it and no one has gone to see it.  I bet more people bought Paris Hilton's last CD than saw this movie.

Perhaps if the story was about hot man on dog action, something former Senator Pervert seems to know a great deal about it he could have released it as porn and all of his hate mongering friends would have watched it.


The man who thinks a President wanting children to get a good education and go to college is a snob was a failed Senator, a failed Presidential candidate and now he is a failed movie mogul.

Let's face it Richard John Santorum is a failure. Maybe Sarah Palin will hire him to be a dog groomer for Todd's sled dogs.

Oh wait, given his disturbing interests that might not be a good idea.

Come Visit Bethlehem; My Fair City

All things Winter/Christmas/Holidays are off and running here in The Christmas City.
 

No holiday visit to Bethlehem would be complete without visiting Christkindlmarkt .  Now in its 21st season this massive yet cozy craft, art, food and entertainment festival is a must do for any visitor to my fair city. There are over 125 vendors, an amazing Santa Claus and lots of tasty food and free music. The event runs Thursdays-Sundays now through the end of the year. If you have some young ones in your life treat them to breakfast with Santa.


When you've had your fill of Christkindlmarkt wander out to Third Street - hang a right and explore all the unique shops and restaurants in one of Bethlehem's two downtown's.

Then head north, cross the Lehigh River and explore Bethlehem's historic center city downtown where the shops, restaurants and museums on and around Main Street are waiting for you.  This year there will be 35 huts on Main Street and around the historic Sun Inn that will offer interesting crafts, food and art.  The Huts are open Friday-Sunday through the holidays but the shops are open everyday.  Don't forget to head up Broad Street you don't want to miss those places.

The historic residential area just East of of Main Street is an amazing neighborhood to walk around and after the sun goes down it is magical this time of year. If you're too tired to walk around, hitch a ride on of the horse and carriage rides around the hood.


The good folks at Artsquest and The Downtown Bethlehem Association are offering a free shuttle between Christkindlmarkt and Main Street


There is never a bad time to visit Bethlehem you will always find something going on but Winter and the Christmas holidays is a magical time to visit out town.

Katy Perry Sings for Autism

This should warm up even the coldest heart.  Pop Princess Katy Perry  takes the stage at an Autism fundraiser to sing with an 11 year old girl.


Katy Perry has her critics, who doesn't but she does seem like a nice person with a big heart.  Her songs are positive and hopeful and she is very gay friendly.

The fact that she campaigned across the country for President Obama will always keep her in my Hall of Fame.

A New Company From Sondheim

American musical theater divinity Stephen Sondheim is revising his iconic 1970 musical Company. with the help of director John Tiffany.  The show which swept the Tony awards after it's initial opening went on to win revival Tony's in 1995 and again in 2007.


Many theater writers and show fans have often thought if we followed Bobby's life beyond the place where Mr. Sondheim and book writer George Furth left him his struggles with relationships and women was because he was really struggling with his sexuality we would find that Bobby really was gay.

Mr. Sondheim has decided to follow that path with this re-write - changing the gender of some of the characters and some of the song lyrics and dialogue.  One significant change is the character Joanne who will forever be linked to Elaine Stritch who sings "The Ladies Who Lunch" was played by Tony winner Alan Cummings during recent readings.



The Roundabout Theater Company is considering bringing this new version to the stage in the future

The Power of a Tweet - Nielsen Enters the Modern World

The venerable TV ratings company Nielsen is beginning to monitor and count tweets  as a way of determining a true level of a television program's popularity and assign it a rating.

Ratings are the lifeblood of the TV business.  They determine if a show is getting enough viewers to keep on the air and they help determine the advertising rates a network will charge advertisers.


Since so many people do not watch programs when they are actually being presented but at a later date and time.  Many network executives were beginning not putting as much weight behind the Nielsen reporting and were looking at other sources for viewership information. By counting tweets and possibly other social media forums Nielsen can now report to the networks what people are saying about a program and how much buzz a program gets during the original broadcast or whenever a viewer chooses to watch the show.


Social media is transforming this world if you are not part of you will surely be left behind.

Uber macho Russian President Vladimir Putin is afraid of Selena Gomez.  She was scheduled to perform next month in St. Petersburg and in Moscow.  The government has denied her a travel visa because they are afraid she will publicly criticize the anti-gay laws in Russia.

After being placed in 29 other foster homes and about to be sent to an institution a gay couple step up and save the life Jed.  There are states and organization in the country that would not allow this to happen, they believe that it would have been better to just throw Jed away rather than give two men a chance to save him.

Former Senator Scott Brown  has decided to not run for Governor. Being a Senator is fun - you get a lot of prestige, you go to a few meetings, you get 5 weeks off in the summer, you get a week or two off for almost every holiday this nation celebrates but as a Governor you are never off the clock - the job is 24 - 7.  I am so not shocked that this light weight decided to not pursue a tough job.

Good On You Ke$ha!

I like Ke$ha!



I know I know I know.

Say what you want but right now the child is wildly popular and she cranks out very catching tunes.  Let us not forget that I am a tall, fairly thin, white, gay man of a certain age.  I love dance music.

And, Ke$ha is all about the dancing and the party. Her songs are fun and the are very girl powered.  Not at the deeper empowering feminist level of  the amazing P!nk or the sublime Kelly Clarkson but her girls are not victims nor are they push overs.

Because Ke$ha likes and supports The Gays her tour is being picketed by members of the Westboro Baptist Church.  Who are not really a church in a traditional sense but family members bonded by a sick hate.

Apparently Ke$ha and her people had grown weary of the protests and wanted to show support for a large segment of her fans (The Gays) so 3 of her back up boys decide to dance in front of the protesters before her show in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The "church" members were playing their disgusting version of her song "We R who we R".

Well done you! Ke$sha (and your hot dancers).  Bring on the glitter bring on the love!
