"Ann Coulter Calls Melissa Harris-Perry....."

This was the beginning of a headline on Huffington Post today; apparently Ann Coulter said something on FOX about MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, apparently it was "shocking"

I was pretty proud of myself for not clicking on the headline to read the "Shocking" thing Miss Coulter had said.

Why would I want to read anything this by this woman?  She offers nothing to the discourse but insults, snark and over the top headline grabbing one liners. Her only intent is to offer shock and the results always fall short of awe.



It's time for the MSM to ignore her and just leave her to FOX.

New Crime Prevention Efforts in NYC

Outgoing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is forced to spend his last month in office defending his Stop and Kiss policy.

In an effort to combat the rising New York City crime rate the Bloomberg administration is encouraging it's police to stop young men they suspect may cause trouble some day and ask them about their current and future actions and to kiss them during the questioning.

The Mayor says this is preventing crime but critics are questioning why only young black men are being kissed.

Come Visit Bethlehem; My Fair City

All things Winter/Christmas/Holidays are off and running here in The Christmas City.
 

No holiday visit to Bethlehem would be complete without visiting Christkindlmarkt .  Now in its 21st season this massive yet cozy craft, art, food and entertainment festival is a must do for any visitor to my fair city. There are over 125 vendors, an amazing Santa Claus and lots of tasty food and free music. The event runs Thursdays-Sundays now through the end of the year. If you have some young ones in your life treat them to breakfast with Santa.


When you've had your fill of Christkindlmarkt wander out to Third Street - hang a right and explore all the unique shops and restaurants in one of Bethlehem's two downtown's.

Then head north, cross the Lehigh River and explore Bethlehem's historic center city downtown where the shops, restaurants and museums on and around Main Street are waiting for you.  This year there will be 35 huts on Main Street and around the historic Sun Inn that will offer interesting crafts, food and art.  The Huts are open Friday-Sunday through the holidays but the shops are open everyday.  Don't forget to head up Broad Street you don't want to miss those places.

The historic residential area just East of of Main Street is an amazing neighborhood to walk around and after the sun goes down it is magical this time of year. If you're too tired to walk around, hitch a ride on of the horse and carriage rides around the hood.


The good folks at Artsquest and The Downtown Bethlehem Association are offering a free shuttle between Christkindlmarkt and Main Street


There is never a bad time to visit Bethlehem you will always find something going on but Winter and the Christmas holidays is a magical time to visit out town.

Madame Ambassador Kennedy

Congratulations to America's newest ambassador.  Caroline Kennedy the daughter of two of the most iconic people of the 20th century was sworn into to day by family friend and Secretary of State John Kerry.


Japan is one of this nations most important allies and the appointment of not just a Kennedy but The Kennedy sends a message of respect and confers a high level of importance to the relationship between our two great democracies.

There is no doubt that this important alliance will be made stronger by Ambassador Caroline Kennedy.

ENDA - Will it Ever Become Law?

I appears the Senate is about to end debate and vote  on a bill that will prevent me from getting fired just because my guy is my guy.

In Pennsylvania not only can I not get married but if my employer did not like the fact that I was gay he/she could fire me.

Below is what some Senators have had to deal with in regards to this issue. Clearly the opponents of justice know they are on the wrong side of history so they have to make up unbelievable foolishness to try to sway people.

"One senator recalled having to explain to a colleague that the legislation would not require insurance companies to pay for sex-change operations. Another spoke of phone calls from constituents who were convinced that their children could be taught in school by men wearing dresses. And conservative groups like the Family Research Council are warning their supporters that the bill would force Christian bookstores to hire drag performers."

This is the extent that people who are afraid of love will go.   

What are they afraid of?

It appears that ENDA will pass the Senate it's fate is less than hopeful in the House.

I am not convinced that newspaper endorsement have an effect on the outcome of an election or that people take it into consideration when voting but getting an editorial board endorsement is better than not getting one.

The newspaper of record for Northampton County The Express - Times / LehighValleyLive has endorsed my friend and excellent Mayor John Callahan for Northampton County Executive.

I will be blogging this week about who I am voting for and why and we all know that my endorsement is the kiss of death so important to the masses that I am sure you will all be waiting on pins and needles for my inspired pronouncements.

Since I have been accused of thinking I am better than most people, I am compelled by my own sense of over blown grandeur & self importance to tell you all how to vote.

The Deflowering of Mr. Pettet

Clayton Pettet will not be call this number he has a better idea

A 19 year old British art student giving up his preciousness  for his art.  Actually Clayton Pettet will be having full on sex on stage and giving up his "virginity" in front of an audience.

Young Mr. Pettet says he has been thinking since he was 16 about the best way to make this special moment even more special.  The art student and another unidentified young man with take to the stage and have sex until completion.

Mr. Pettet wants to question how society defines "virginity".  He says it means different things to people in his case he defines losing his virginity by becoming the receptive partner during anal intercourse.

The articles I have read about this have not disclosed a place, date or time.  I assuming that Clayton Pettet's official deflowering will take place in London.

Frank Deford Top 12 list

The great sports writer Frank Deford opines further on topics he has already discussed .
 

He gives short hits on paying big time college athletes, Pete Rose & the Hall of Fame, children playing tackle football and so much more.

In fact the list goes on longer than 12 items.  It is classic Frank Deford and of course I agreed with every point.

There are few writers as consistently good or as interesting as Mr. Deford.

Sen. Cory Booker

Newark Mayor and Democratic superstar  Cory Booker has been elected to the Senate.

When "The Chosen One" gets elected to the Senate he/she can follow two different paths. Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz.  Hillary went along to get along and she held back a bit so she could learn the ways of the Senate and develop relationships.  You've all watched Ted Cruz for the last 10 months.

I predict Cory Booker will be a hybrid much like Barack Obama was; respectful, deferential but not passing up any opportunity to find his way to a camera or microphone and there is no doubt he will be very much in demand on the fundraising circuit.

I am thrilled Mr. Booker is going to Washington, we need more thoughtful young people in Washington.

At the end of the campaign Sarah Palin came in to campaign for Mr. Booker's extremist opponent and as usual Sarah Palin's participation in a general election either has no impact or a negative impact on the race.

When are Republicans going to acknowledge Mrs. Palin is worthless?

Harvey Milk's Stamp on History

The United States Postal Service has announced a stamp honoring Harvey Milk .  Mr. Milk, as I am sure you know was an gay rights activist who was elected a San Francisco City Supervisor way back in 1977 and was one of the first openly gay elected official in United States.


Supervisor Milk served less than a year in office because he was murdered by a psychotic and disgruntled former Supervisor Dan White.  White's murder of Mr. Milk and Mayor George Moscone was successfully defended by his attorneys because they convinced a jury of no ones peers that he had eaten too many twinkies.   Mr. White was convicted voluntary manslaughter not murder and sentenced to about 7 years - time was taken off for his good behavior and he served less than 5 years for the murder of a Mayor and a City Supervisor.

Congratulations to the USPS for their inclusion of all Americans and all parts of our society in the honor roll of stamps.

I can't wait to hear the sturm und drang from the extreme right wing on this.

You know it will be petty, small and pathetic.

And, you know it will be desperate and weird because they know that we know that they know that we know that they are on the wrong side of history.
